15,000 People in 8 Years

7th June 2021

As we mark eight years since the opening of the foodbank we are reminded of the many volunteers that make up our team. Wonderful men & women that enable us to provide emergency food relief to our community through collecting, sorting and distributing food. This means that over the last eight years we have fed over 15,000 people (see the piechart for breakdown). We can all agree that this is no small task, and without the hard work of many volunteers that would be a lot of people going without food. Thank you to our wonderful team!

Thanks are also due to you, our wonderful support network, who have supplied us with over 150 tonnes of food since we opened – equivalent to 375,000 tins of baked beans. Thankfully it’s been much more diverse than just beans and your response when we put out requests for items is second to none. We truly could not continue to serve our community without your help.

As we continue to develop the services we offer to our clients, we’ve started handing out fresh fruit & vegetables alongside our food parcels. Purchased  from a local vendor, we’re grateful to those giving money to cover the cost of this through our online giving platform. If you’d like to support us financially, including claiming Gift Aid on your donation, then click here to do so. Gift Aid, if you’re a tax payer, allows us to claim an extra 25p on every £1 from the government.

As the lockdown lifts and restrictions ease Tesco are allowing us back in store for three days in mid-July to have a collection drive. Keep a look out on our social media for further information about the days, as well as lists of specific items we’ll be looking for.

Together we can make a difference!
